Corporate Malignancy

If you knew
a simple want or need
Could we then synthesize
lasting solutions
for eternal problems
or will disposable problems
near and far digest
us in their taking
of our compact song
singing second best
on vine and fruit?

Simple wants and needs
require exchanges of money.
Time dependent purchases
circulate currency,
does it pool in warchest
as couch layabout
or is it out and about
rewarding effort
and warming communities
heated economies.

Could we synthesize
activity, by buying locally
Local products, small shops
local profits, local jobs.
Or would you rather pipe in
the gospel from tele-evangelists
out of touch with communities
merely supplying something cheap.
The Gospel of Walmart
and any number of corporations
puts dollars into coffins
that sleep an eternity
in off-shore graveyards
used for voodoo magic
in choosing your president.

Lasting solutions
reside in buying less
and buying locally made
products that service needs.
The thing is China
really is a luxury,
and if not
then something is wrong
with our mentalities
that would rely
upon a Communist Regime
10,000 miles away
that would
just as soon mute you
as look at you.

Eternal problems
are warring in the poor.
Mainly maintaining pride
in the face of poverty.
We know the rich are screwing us
when they send jobs overseas,
and without jobs economies starve,
making businesses cheap to buyout
(and all their patents)
capitalizing control of markets
for when industry springs back up,
with them at the heads
and all of us indebted,
but without unions to argue with
as a right to work, good grief.

Disposable problems
are manufactured in minds, mostly
our drive for respect and success
so we can get more things
impose many requirements on self-worth.
Walk more, take the bus
most the imposition is from our car
and oil industries they support.
Consume less, make more
most of time wasted resides
in one's lack of engaging life.

Near and far digestion
of monies influences
whether one's community eats.
If we have local products
Buy Them
They're your neighbors and friends
and more likely to stop by roadside
if your broken down.
Some megacorporation isn't gonna care
even if they happen to be driving by.

Our disposable problems take
work in solving,
if we can but think collectively
we are off to a good start
in solving anything.
There has always been
and always will be
strength in numbers.

Our compact song
sings for worlds
but is heard
by only surrounding forest.
Our pain and joy
is heard only by
our neighbors and friends.
Local communities
are what support us,
why then support anyone else?
Why sing for them?

Singing second best
I shop at Walmart sometimes.
For which I feel a lemming
rather than proud chickadee.
But actually pretty infrequent.
Mainly electronics
which is hard to find
locally sourced.

Vines and fruit
can grow anywhere.
Why not your backyard.
To feed local
communities of birds
that brighten days.
Plant the seed,
grow something.

If you could grow anything
in rewarding effort
local jobs and local shops
would carry product and service.
Communities are unions, too
with neighbors and friends
as proud members
that brighten days.
